The former World Under 21 champion made a promising start to his professional career, reaching the quarter-finals of the BCE International and the Mercantile Credit Classic in his first season.
Undoubtedly the highlight of his time in the paid ranks though was reaching the final of the 1996 Asian Classic only to lose 9-8 to Ronnie O'Sullivan. On the way to the final he accounted for Stephen Hendry.
n the same year Brian, who is now busily taking flying exams to become a commercial airline pilot, won the Benson & Hedges Championship to qualify for a debut for the Masters at Wembley.
