The days when Stephen Maguire was known as Stephen Hendry’s practice partner have long since gone.
‘Livewire’ Maguire is very much a top star in his own right these days.
Indeed, the Glaswegian star has won more major titles in recent seasons than the great Scot.
The highlight of his career was victory in the 2004 UK Championship final: thrashing David Gray 10-1.
Stephen almost regained the trophy at Telford last December but came up against an inspired Ronnie O’Sullivan.
So far the World Championship title has eluded him. But he’s well capable of emulating compatriots: Hendry, John Higgins and Graeme Dott who have become Kings of the Crucible.
