Ohio State women’s tennis captured a Big Ten title on Saturday night in the most exciting way possible: by defeating Michigan in the championship match.

In a tightly contested battle that came down to the final singles match, Ohio State freshman Nao Nishino defeated Michigan freshman Emily Sartz-Lunde in three sets, securing a 4-3 victory for the second-seeded Buckeyes over the top-seeded Wolverines in the Big Ten Tournament final.

Sydni Ratliff, Teah Chavez, and Luciana Perry also earned key singles victories for the Buckeyes after Michigan had taken an early lead by winning the doubles point.

With this win, Ohio State women's tennis captured its first Big Ten Tournament championship since 2021, ending Michigan’s three-year streak of conference tournament titles.

The Buckeye men aimed to complete a championship sweep for Ohio State tennis on Sunday, facing UCLA in the Big Ten men's tennis tournament final.
